RLM Air-Spider
The RIM AIR-SPIDER will balance/self regulate the tyre inflation pressure to a preset level on up to 6 tyres simultaneously.
To achieve the optimum air flow, use a 12 mm or 1/2 " ID air line for connection to the AIR-SPIDER. This unit is capable of dispersing up to 88 cu ft of air through the 6 hose assemblies so it is possible to inflate 6 tyres in approximately the same time as a 15 cu-ft compressor can inflate 1 tyre.
NOTE: when the primary pressure/volume feeding the AIR-SPIDER is reduced, the inflating time is proportionally increased.
For correct tyre maintenance, we recommend all tyre pressures be manually checked prior to connecting the AIR-SPIDER, this practice will identify flat or problem tyres, which may need attention.
The unit is supplied with 6 colour-coded hoses. 2x orange (short), 4x blue (long). When used on a tri-axle trailer, place the unit at the centre axle and attach the 2 orange hoses to that set of duals, then attach the blue hoses to the duals on the front and rear axles. Any imbalance in the tyre pressures at this point will self regulate if given a couple of minutes, then connect the main air supply to the quick connect coupler and all 6 tyres will inflate to your pre-set level.
It takes less time to INFLATE all 6 tyres to a pre-set level, than the time required to inflate 4 and deflate 2.
For example: If you require 85psi in all tyres, and your pressure check prior to connection indicated that two tyres were over inflated, simply connect the dual foot lock on chucks to those over inflated tyres first, then disconnect their hoses from the AIR-SPIDER manifold. This will bleed air from those tyres. Continue connecting the dual foot chucks to the remaining 4 tyres, then reconnect the air hoses to the manifold. Now all 6 tyres will be inflating to your pre-set 85psi level.
To benefit those with only one primary airline from the compressor, a non-return valve has been fitted to the AIR-SPIDER. This will allow the operator to connect the lock on chucks to all 6 tyres and the pressures will balance out while the primary airline is used for another job. Once that job is finished, simply connect the primary airline to the AIR-SPIDER and all 6 tyres will quickly inflate to the pre-set level.
Included as a separate item with the RIM AIR-SPIDER, is a check valve. To use this, disconnect one coloured air hose from the manifold, and insert the check valve. The operator can now test the accuracy of his hand held tyre pressure gauge against the dial gauge on the AIR-SPIDER.
To set regulator pressures
1) Connect main air supply to the AIR-SPIDER via the quick connect
coupler, on top of the pressure regulator.
2) Pull knob of regulator outward until the orange band shows.
3) View the dial gauge as you turn the knob clockwise to increase pressure,
or anti clockwise to decrease pressure.
4) Press the regulator knob inward to lock and set the required pressure.
5) The AIR-SPIDER units are preset by the factory at 85psi.
